Let’s be honest. Following the guidelines of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is not for the faint of heart. But, it’s really important!

There are people throughout the world who are living on wages that are not acceptable, and the world’s resources are being depleted at an alarming rate. The owners of Tulong have decided to do something about these problems, and you can join us on the journey.

Tulong doesn’t just give CSR a handshake. We embrace it! We feel strongly that both ethically and ideologically, we have a responsibility to society. This can mean that we are proactive (not reactive), or in some cases, we must refrain from acting (not choosing pathways that negatively impact the world).

Social Responsibility is voluntary. It is about following legal guidelines, then going beyond what is called for by the law.

Social Responsibility relates to Tulong in a number of ways:

  • As a consumer and provider of resources
  • As an employer in our procurement practices
  • As a retailer, to our customers
  • In the communities where we work
  • As citizens of our world

We admit it. We’re different. We take a triple bottom line (3BL) approach to our company, when many others focus only on profits.

Committing to a 3BL approach means that we focus our company energy on people, profits and the planet.

  • People – We focus specifically on social outcomes. You know – improving lives by providing opportunities for self-direction, employment and the like.
  • Profits – We think it’s okay to make a profit on our apparel. Do you know why? Because our mission dictates that if we make a profit, we get to support the people and the planet that we care so much about.
  • Planet – We want to be smart about the way we use the world’s resources, and not use them up!

We feel that companies can make a difference by adopting a socially responsible culture and triple bottom line approach.

Now, we’ve got to “walk the walk,” right? To that end, we have developed a Code of Conduct based on the best practices of many other codes we studied. We try to live our mission each day with a high degree of transparency and accountability. We even use third party sources to verify that each of our suppliers complies with our CSR policy.
